Job Description

We are currently seeking a friendly and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our agency. As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to reach their full potential and thrive in a supportive learning environment.

We are committed to providing an inclusive education for all our students, and as a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to deliver individualized support and ensure that every child receives the assistance they need to succeed. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, each facing different challenges, and make a positive impact on their educational journey.

This position requires someone who is patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about working with children with SEND. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as you will be collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders on a daily basis. It is also important that you are able to adapt to different learning styles and techniques, as well as demonstrate a willingness to continuously learn and develop your own skills.

Responsibilities

· Provide one-on-one assistance to students with SEND, including helping with academic tasks, developing social skills, and managing behaviour.

· Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and create tailored learning materials for students with SEND.

· Support students in classroom activities, ensuring their full participation and inclusion.

· Monitor and track the progress of students with SEND, reporting any concerns to appropriate staff members.

· Assist with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Intervention Plans (BIPs).

· Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment for students, promoting independence and self-confidence.

· Attend meetings, workshops, and training sessions to stay up-to-date with best practices in SEND education.

Requirements

· Relevant experience working with children with SEND in an educational or care setting.

· Knowledge and understanding of different types of SEND and the impact on learning.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.

· Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.

· Ability to adapt to different learning styles and use a variety of teaching techniques to accommodate individual needs.

· Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

· Basic knowledge of educational and behavioural strategies for students with SEND.
